END OF THE SESSION NEWSLETTER
Heyyy there NESA Bowen family
It’s officially been over 3 weeks since we vacated. It feels like a breath of fresh air. Being away from all the drama school brings, never-ending tests, assignments, and even exams, exams were the most frustrating, but in a good way. At last, we are finally back home after a session that felt like it was not going to end. Before even going into the purpose of this newsletter, we want to say thank you. Thank you for being there, for showing up and showing out, thank you for attending our events and standing up for NESA. We see you, we love you, and we celebrate you. There is no way all of this would have happened without your support.
This session is definitely one for the books becauseee whattt??? It was a lot and a half. Tons and tons and tons of events to catch up with (especially during second semester), tons of programs and meetings and at a point it felt like life was just moving and we weren’t able to catch up- well I felt like that if you didn’t, but in all we were able to move past it all without a scratch (I believe).
The session started off strong with the Bridge Conference hosted in collaboration with the Business Administration department, and the success of that conference was unmatched. We got to meet a lot of amazing people that impacted us with life-changing tips to navigate life. It was really amazing to meet the likes of Kingpexxie (KP) and Jide Oyegbile (J-blaze).

In first semester as well, a couple of students attended the NESA National Conference in KWASU, and it was really amazing. From speaker to speaker, person to person, it was nothing short of beautiful. Now I’m not sure which is more beautiful, the conference or the experience travelling to Ilorin, Kwara State. I guess we would never know.

Of course, I won’t be forgetting the Ibadan Hangout organized for people that stay in Ibadan. It was really fun with a lot of activities to keep them engaged. I think the coolest part of it was seeing your coursemates outside of the four walls of Bowen ( Bowen is a lottt Chaii).

Going strong into second semester, we had the departmental week, everyone’s favorite week in the session. From day 1 to day 7 was a hit back to back, from the academic seminar on day 1 to the dinner on day 6 it was fireeeee.

NESA broke a record this semester that left people’s mouth WIDEEEEE opennn………………. 3 of the One day Management Position Candidates came from our department!!!! And two of them won. The Office of the Chaplain- Alade Erioluwanimi, The Office of the Registrar- Ikpo Lotechwkwu, The Office of the Vice Chancellor- Tayo- Adigboluja Ayobami. NESA couldn’t be more proud of these. We aren’t that small overlooked department anymore, we are doing great things.

Oh, you thought that was the end, you are greatly mistaken. In the spirit of great things and their doing, we had again, Ayobami being nominated for the post of the BBSF President. Not only was he nominated, he passed all the screening process, was shortlisted and he WONN. As a department, we are very proud of Ayobami and we are sure without a doubt that this is meant for him and he would excel at it.
Then our finalists got inducted into NES, we launched our website and so many other amazing incidences but one that we would not be forgetting in a while is Her Maiden Public Lecture. It was nothing short of impactful! From conversations on digital platforms to the importance of financial literacy and curriculum reform, it was a defining moment for us as a department.

All of these were impactful and I dare say life changing events and one we would not be forgetting in a while. Now, we are free from all these and back to where we came from. We should remember that learning does not end in school. Take out time to improve yourself during this summer holidays. Take up classes, join boot camps, work on your relationship with God (very important), read books, just do something. If you are on Internship fantastic, if not all well and good. Just take out time to improve yourself and learn that skill you have been wanting to.
I hope you enjoyed reminiscing on how the last session went until I catch you next time, remain blessed, happy, stay safe, and out of trouble.
